Our client is seeking an Internet Server Team Leader. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the role involves the development, enhancement, and support of the service for a primarily B2B marketplace.
You will need solid (3-5+ years) senior administrator level experience in Solaris and Windows platforms, with demonstrable skills in system level scripting (PERL/PHP/shell etc) and an excellent, detailed understanding of common Internet service software (sendmail / Apache & IIS / BIND / RADIUS
etc) and associated applications (SNMP based tools, large scale backup etc).
You will also require knowledge of basic networking and routing as applied to a server environment and clear problem solving skills and an ability to work under sustained periods of pressure. You should be prepared to work within a flexible schedule to meet demands of a 24/7 business. The role may require shift work between 08:00-20:00 and on rotation call-out duty is an integral part of this position (currently 2 in 12).
The position requires someone with a strong and driven personality and proven man-management skills. It will involve mentoring, cross-training and personal development of other members of the team, as well as improving the knowledge in the frontline support teams. There is a great deal of interaction with other technical teams.
You must have excellent written and spoken English. Projects/plans for future development as well as documentation for current systems are expected to be clear and well thought out.
Direct customer/ vendor contact is frequent, so you must be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to deal with technical contacts within current and prospective customers /vendors. A full UK driving licence is required for this post.
