The Role & Responsibilities: • Data Warehouse Technical Lead with hands on development skills required for Business Intelligence projects • Experience of leading and managing a small or large team of Data Warehouse developers whilst undertaking hands-on development work. This is a senior technical role with the necessary skills to manage a small team of technical development staff as well as skills associated with sharing experience and expertise with others • The role will involve working on a variety of Business Intelligence projects • Self starter, takes a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to tasks and project work and assists in the pre-sale, delivery and implementation of Business Intelligence projects • Strong customer facing skills with ability to present and explain approach being taken manage discussions/reviews and communicate implications both to the client (at all levels) and to the project team. Enjoys a challenge, enthusiastic, with analytical and problem solving abilities • Ability to take ownership of a project related issue and see it through to successful conclusion • Ability to work under pressure and unsociable hours as dictated by project need • Ability to travel and work away from home during the week if necessary Key skills are: • Strong Technical Architect skills are required in the area of Business Intelligence • A hands-on proficiency in most of the following: Oracle 8/9i, MS SQL Server, PL SQL, UNIX, Shell Scripting, ETL tools (preferably Cognos DecisionStream), Business Intelligence tools (preferably Cognos suite), Data Modelling tools (Power Designer/Oracle Designer), MS Office products • Will have been working within a Business Intelligence management/engineering role for 3 or more years • Background in the successful delivery of Business Intelligence projects • Experience of working with large volumes of data and managing associated performance and throughput challenges • Experienced in logical and physical data modelling • Able to analyse requirements and derive data requirements • Able and confident to deal with complex customer situations • Able to communicate at all levels of an organisation • Able to deal with both technical and business personnel
