Our client includes leading metrology brands such as Wilcox Associates, Brown & Sharpe, CE Johansson, CimCore, DEA, Leitz, Sheffield, Romer, TESA and now also Leica Geosystems (Metrology Division). With an installed base of more than 50,000 CMMs, over 7,500 portable systems, millions of hand-held instruments and approx 30,000 licenses of the popular PC-DMIS metrology software, Our client daily supports their customers to fully control their processes and ensure that what has been designed is in fact manufactured.
The company currently has a vacancy for a Software Engineer to join an expanding sector of the business.
Responsibilities:
To work within a team of software development engineers you will develop primarily within the Microsoft Visual C++ environment but other tools are used where necessary. The majority of your work will involve producing code that interfaces and communicates with a wide range of modern multi axis CNC control systems. Some of this work will be on-site and there will be an element of European and global travel.
Key Skills:
-You must be mechanically inclined and have some knowledge on machine shop work, running NC machines would be an obvious advantage.
-Good Microsoft Visual C++ experience with the ability to contribute and implement your own code within a large product.
-Experience of software development in a related field. CNC, CAD/CAM, Metrology etc.
-Good practical engineering mathematics skills, vectors, geometry, 3D, co-ordinate systems.
-Knowledge and experience of our core business, metrology and manufacturing.
Personal description:
-You will be working as part of a team but at times will be on your own. You must be self-motivated, committed and dedicated to the task in hand.
-You will have excellent organization and communications skills, a requirement for their global operation.
Education:
-Ideally you will be a graduate of a related subject such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering discipline with a 2(i) grade or higher preferably.
