Our client is an independent programme and system assurance company with 27 years' experience of delivering consulting and technology services into Space, Defence and Government. They currently seek a Contracts Officer to join their team in Fareham.
Reporting to the Legal and Contracts Officer, this is a key position requiring knowledge and experience of the contractual input over the entire lifecycle of a project from initial tendering, contract negotiations, delivery to close down and will involve the contractual control of sub-contracted elements. The successful candidate will ensure the effective and efficient management of the contractual aspects of the business objectives in line with Company policies and procedures in order that risks are understood and controlled. This will require the post-holder to:
* Work in support of the sales process in assessing, evaluating and responding to the contractual elements of bids.
* Prepare and negotiate appropriate agreements needed to control the use of sub-contractors in the response to bids.
* Support pre-contract negotiations and internal governance processes prior to acceptance.
* Establish appropriate flow down of sub-contract terms where needed.
* Establish and maintain appropriate records and files of contracts and sub-contracts needed for effective management of projects.
* Support the Project and Account Management Teams in the operational management of the contract and sub-contracts throughout the delivery phase.
* Support the negotiation and resolution of contractual disputes.
* Attend external and internal meetings in pursuance of these duties.
* Support the on-going improvement to the Contractual Processes within the Business.
* Be responsible for the quality of work and conducing activities in accordance with the Company's quality procedures.
* Provide other ad-hoc contractual support as may be directed by the local Operations Director for the effective operation of the business.
In order to fulfil your duties successfully, you will require the following key skills and attributes:
* Relevant academic qualifications
* 3+ years broad functional experience in a similar environment
* Experience of the Government and Defence market would be advantageous
* Highly competent in the use of MS Office
* A creative approach to problem solving
* Able to manage time effectively and multi-task and meet challenging timescales.
* Self Motivated and able to work without supervision
* Ability to work as a part of a team
* A proactive and flexible attitude –
* Good Administrative skills
* Skilled and diplomatic communicator
* Confident at working with senior level of staff
* Prepared to be mobile, attending meetings, seminars, presentations etc at remote sites
