Our client is an independent programme and system assurance company with 27 years' experience of delivering consulting and technology services into Space, Defence and Government. They currently seek to recruit a Legal and Contracts Officer to join their team in Welwyn Garden City.
Within your remit to carry out a variety of activities providing support to a number of Legal and Contracts Managers, you will be involved in a varied Legal and Contracts Officer role, and typical duties will consist of:
* For low risk/routine business, reviewing and evaluating Contract terms and conditions received within the Company and preparing responses to the commercial aspects.
* Attend low risk/routine bid and project reviews.
* Maintenance of and setting up of Contractual/Agreement databases.
* The scanning of all Contractual documentation and maintenance of registers of all scanned documents.
* Proposal storage and archiving.
* Contract review administration and liaising with Project Managers.
* Provide administrative support with regards to insurance, exporting, trade marks and patents.
* Acquire and apply knowledge of Insurance, Exports, Trade Marks and Patents.
* Support the business teams/Project Managers in the operational management of the contract and sub-contract relationships.
* Maintenance of Contracts files within the department.
* General administrative support (filing, photocopying, faxing, telephone etc).
Within the role, you will require the following essential skills:
* Willingness to travel (often at short notice)
* Flexible working approach
* Must be a good team player
* Ability to use own initiative
* High attention to detail
* Good communication & interpersonal skills
* Good standard of English and letter writing
* Computer-literate, high level of MS Office capability
Experience of conducting business negotiations would also be beneficial. Previous experience of working in a Contractual/Legal environment would be an advantage, although training will be given where required.
The successful candidate will be expected to travel to other company and client sites within the UK and Europe to provide support to the other Legal & Contract Managers or attend client meetings when required. You will be rewarded with a salary commensurate with experience, alongside benefits.
