Projects and Engineering Manager
To manage the Design and Projects Engineering function of the Company and to support the Company’s sales and operations.
Qualifications: Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chartered Status
-5 yrs min. post graduate experience in an engineering environment, with a strong design / development, pressure systems engineering, technical management and project management experience.
-Detailed knowledge of pressure systems legislation, (industrial gases) industry codes of practice and technologies for the production, distribution and storage of industrial gases.
-Well developed people management and IT skills.
1.Build, maintain and manage an efficient and cost effective design and projects engineering organisation to satisfy the Company’s technical support needs.
2.Prepare and evaluate project proposals (including outline designs, cost estimates and programmes), within tight time constraints, to support the Company’s sales and operations.
3.Manage the preparation of project specifications, the technical assessment of tenders and suppliers, and the timely placement of orders to ensure the cost effective procurement of plant and equipment.
4.Manage the preparation of detailed plant and equipment designs, including drawings, technical specifications, manuals etc, in a timely and cost effective manner, to satisfy project and Company needs.
5.Monitor and control project and departmental performance against time and cost constraints to ensure goals are met. Ensure systems are in place to continuously improve departmental performance.
6.Provide expert technical support in plant operation, maintenance, troubleshooting etc, to the Supply Chain department, to maximise plant availability and efficiency, and minimise operating costs.
7.Develop and maintain the Company’s engineering standards, and ensure their continued compliance with legislation, industry codes of practice and Group standards.
8.To effectively manage the engineering department to ensure that personnel are motivated, clearly focused, appropriately trained and act as a mentor for each team member to strongly promote their development and ensure their performance is optimal.
To work as part of the Management Team in order to help achieve its projected sales, profit and growth targets and become a highly respected member of the Group of companies.
1.Internal - Accountable to the Supply Chain Manager, the jobholder has
close relationships with all Company departments owing to the broad range of activities covered by Engineering. In particular, there are frequent contacts with most managers, and many staff, in Supply Chain, Sales, Safety and Quality, and Finance. The company’s Group, technical and engineering personnel.
2.External - Engineering Contractors, Equipment Suppliers, Industry and Technical Authorities and Committees. Resources and Product Supplier.
3.Customers -Supporting the Sales Department at Customer
