We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to take a lead role in the future development of a successful team of professional consulting electrical engineers, serving the railway industry in the UK and abroad. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with at least ten years’ experience in electrical engineering including design, preferably in a consultancy environment. Experience of railway electrical infrastructure systems would be an advantage. This position is not suited to an engineer with an electronics background. The successful candidate is likely to be a Chartered Electrical Engineer who has held a senior position in a multi-disciplinary project environment. Good written and interpersonal skills with proven leadership qualities are required, as is a flexible and positive attitude to all activities. Key aspects of the role include managing a range of design projects from initial approach through to final delivery. The ability to develop practical, appropriate concept designs at an early stage and then lead the development of these concepts will be vital, as will be the ability to simultaneously lead a wide variety of projects. An understanding of the commercial aspects of a consultancy firm would be a definite advantage, as in addition to the technical aspects the position will involve preparing tenders for new work and then managing projects to ensure targets are achieved.
