Our client is an international train control systems and signalling contractor. Their head office is in the South West of the UK. They have the capacity to provide a full turnkey service to their clients from research and development through to manufacturing, testing and commissioning, installation and maintenance. They have existing contracts on the mainline railway and a major re-signalling contract on the London Underground.
An opportunity has arisen within their manufacturing procurement team for a buyer to play a key role in the manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for the supplier selection and negotiation to ensure on time supply of components for the mechanical manufacturing area against cost down targets. You will also play a key role in multi disciplined teams for the introduction of new products into manufacturing
The successful candidate will be CIPS (part) qualified, able to read and interpret engineering drawings, and able to negotiate and influence to build supplier partnerships. It would be an advantage if you were fully conversant with the procurement of electro- mechanical components, and have previous experience within a complex manufacturing processing environment.
