<b>Job Summary</b> <br>Excellent opportunity to train to become a qualified Railway Structures Examiner/Inspector and build a career within the Rail Civils Team of Atkins.</p> </p>You will be expected to conduct about four months training (classroom and on the job) after which you will undertake a competency assessment examination that, if successful will result in you being certified as a competent Railway Structures Examiner.</p> </p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> </p>Once a qualified Railway Structures Examiner you will be at the front line in spotting any defects to structures throughout the Railway Network that might have an impact on safety. This will entail:</p><ul><li>Undertaking visual examinations of structures on a yearly basis and fully tactile surveys every 6 years <li>Write reports on a laptop and for certain structures CAD drawings are required, however training for this will be given <li>You will be working in a core team of 30 Examiners who examine 20,000 structures per year.</li></ul><br><br><b>Requirements</b> <br><ul><li>You will have an engineering background and have a general understanding of engineering<li>Engineering qualification ONC/HNC or equivalent.<li>You will be self-motivated and you will be able to plan your own workload<li>You will be thorough and technically competent.</li></ul><br><br><b>Training</b> <br>Atkins develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development courses designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talents. We run a continuous development program of lunchtime seminars every fortnight.</p> </p>This role will specifically include 4 months training to enable you to become a competent Railways Structures Examiner/Inspector.</p> </p>Additional Information<ul><li>Candidates must have a full UK driving license as there will be travel UK wide<li>Candidates must also be flexible as there will be some weekend and night work<li>Applicants for this position must have the right to work in the UK without restriction.<li>This role will be site based at our Kingston Upon Thames site</li></ul><br><br><b>Reward and Benefits</b> <br><ul><li>25 days annual leave<li>Flexible annual leave scheme<li>Contributory pension scheme<li>Employee Assistance Programme<li>Computer Purchase Scheme</li></ul><br><br>
