My client is a rail and civils contractor who is seeking a SHE professional to join their team, due to recent project wins. They operate throughout the UK but are looking for this person to cover the South East Region, which covers the East side of the country including from Leicestershire down to the South coast, therefore the ideal candidate will be someone who is prepared to travel. My client is flexible as to where you are based within this region as they have a network of offices across the country from which you could work.
Main Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this role is to provide an effective Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) specialist support for the region either in the rail or highways specialism. With the help of a locally based team of SHE advisors the role will raise the profile of SHE matters to all staff employed by the company.
Main Responsibilities:
-To assist in the development of appropriate SHE plan and procedures, to ensure advice is accurate and practical
-To promote company SHE plan and initiatives to site-based staff
-To support the operations team with SHE advice and assistance
-To support the maintenance and update of any central library of risk and other assessments
-To understand the company reporting system to be able to support staff to submit accurate monthly accident and incident data
-To assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents, and ensure the learning is locked in
-Support the production of accurate monthly reports regarding all aspects of SHE matters
-To support management in liaison with the Client, Local Authorities and Enforcing Agencies regarding SHE matters
Requirements
-An excellent working knowledge and qualification in the chosen area i.e. rail/highways
-A Corporate member of IOSH, working towards RSP and FIOSH
-Has a recognised environmental qualification or is working towards Membership of IEMA
-Understands management systems OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 with a working knowledge of ISO 9001
-Working knowledge of the Construction Industry
-To give clear direction and motivation to staff
-Has a positive attitude and good communication skills
-Possesses a full driving license
This is a senior position and is reflected by the excellent package and opportunity this role provides.
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 plus pension, health, car/allowance, sickpay etc.
