Our client is one of the largest integrated property services businesses in the United Kingdom. Their 2000+ employees are based in 300 offices across the UK. They offer an extensive range of services through their diverse group of subsidiary companies, which include many well known high street names: Mortgages Direct, Wolton Chartered Surveyors, haart, Spicer McColl, Darlows, Felicity J. Lord and their call centre ‘BUZZ'. They are looking to recruit a Purchasing Manager. The purpose of the role of Purchasing Manager is to review purchasing spend and actively implement policies and procedures to control the Group ordering / spending.
Duties will include:
- Enhancing the Purchase Ordering process.
- Manage supplier costs to ensure that the group receives cost effective pricing and service levels from local and national suppliers, including the introduction of preferred suppliers and tender processes.
- Project management of all branch refurbishments, liaising with management and suppliers.
- Act as a central point for branch maintenance issue, which may include emergency works, health and safety works or more general property issues.
- Approval of Purchase Orders and Invoices within agreed and controlled limits.
- Maintain a register of quotes and orders in progress.
The ideal Purchasing Manager
Applicants for the role of Purchasing Manager will have some previous experience in purchasing and procurement (including the tender process, plus project management experience). All applicants must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including Outlook). Plus:
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and with external customers / suppliers
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident manner
- Good administrative and organisation abilities
- The ability to work well under pressure
- A flexible approach to working hours
- A desire to succeed and be recognised for their achievements

Basic Salary is in the range of £20,000 to £25,000, dependant on experience or qualifications. The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, plus additional hours as required by the role.
