OUTLINE JOB PROFILE
With the award of the Galileo Ground Control Segment Prime Contract to Client the company has positions intechnical procurement engineering.
The Galileo programme is the European Global Navigation Satellite system being developed to provide worldwide satellite navigation services. Client is now building a team of highly experienced professional engineers looking to work in a multi-national environment.
The positions are based at the company’s site and will involve visits to the European Space Agency as well other participating European companies.
The positions offered are within the GCS Prime Contractor Engineering team, with technical responsibility for software and hardware procurement, followed through with subcontract management of the selected suppliers.
This includes preparation of the technical procurement data packs, evaluation of technical proposals and technical supervision of the selected subcontractors. This will involve programme lifecycle reviews of supplier deliverables and technical information exchanges to resolve requirement, design and
verification issues.
Technical approval of supplier verification and validation plans and approval of acceptance testing plans and results is also required. When necessary, corrective actions will be prepared with the supplier to
resolve technical issues. Support to Product Assurance for implementation of engineering standards and processes will be required.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
3 years engineering experience in aerospace, defence, telecomms, navigation systems industries
including some experience of software management or procurement.
Desirable experience:
5 years in space systems ground segment engineering, satellite navigation or satellite communications. Specific experience in GPS, EGNOS or Galileo programmes with working knowledge of satellite control systems, ground segment monitor and control, network management, satellite operations and planning would be an advantage.
Essential:
First degree or equivalent in science, engineering or mathematics.
Desirable:
Upper 2nd class degree in physics, electronic engineering or software engineering.
