Senior Engineer - DFM - Exciting opportunity to join this leading Defence organisation who are the largest independent supplier of electronic subsystems for Missiles to provide the necessary mechanical engineering and design expertise to develop products from creation through qualification, with an emphasis on design for manufacture.Working in close co-operation with other discipline groups, the Mechanical Group is involved in the complete life cycle of the company's products, specifically: Research activities Pre-bid support Development and test Specialised qualification testing Manufacturing Engineering Integrated logistics support Post-design services. Regular contact required with all engineering disciplines, programme management, and external customers and suppliers. Key Tasks: Interpret project requirements and assume mechanical responsibility at project level in liaison with Project and Engineering Management. You will have a Degree or HNC in Product Design/Mechanical Engineering or similar subject. Chartered Engineer status would be desirable. You will need 5 years experience in a Mechanical design role developing equipment for manufacture to meet harsh environment system specifications. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes and preparation of manufacturing information in accordance with recognised standards using Pro-Engineer and Pro-Intralink/PDM-Link. Produce detailed mechanical designs to meet defined technical and manufacturing requirements. Conduct analysis and reviews to ensure both concept and detailed design solutions meet requirements. Support development of mechanical designs into proto-type through to production. Ideally you will also have 3 years experience in Mechanism/Stabilised Platform designs for high production quantities. Liaise with both supplier and customer. You will be a self-motivated individual with ability to work under pressure and plan to meet deadlines in budget.
