Exciting opportunity to join this leading Defence organisation to manage the Commercial aspects of bids and contracts. Support the acquisition of new business into the Company.
Protect the Company’s interests by minimising contractual and legal exposures whilst optimising profitability, at the same time ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the highest standards of business ethics. Liaising with the Legal Team, Commercial Team, Internal and External customers.
Key Tasks: Actively participate in business capture planning and winning business; Prepare and negotiate teaming and similar agreements with prospective customers and/or partners; Provide commercial support to bid managers and marketing staff and be the customer interface on all commercial matters; Develop appropriate commercial (including pricing and payment) strategies; Participate in bid preparation and approval and ensure that the requirements of Company procedures are met; Prepare commercial proposals in line with the terms of bid approval; Lead contract negotiations with customers, and sign those contracts within his/her delegated authorities ensuring that Company requirements are taken into account; Ensure that orders taken into the business are acceptable and comply with Company policy; Provide contract management support to all areas of the business and provide expertise and advice on contract terms and conditions to bids and programmes; Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly to the satisfaction of all involved; Ensure that Customer payments are timely and in line with Company expectations; Identify and monitor opportunities and threats with a view to maximising the Company’s profitability, and limiting the Company’s risk; Liaise with Company legal advisors and ensure that all contracts and agreements comply with Company policies, meet Company legal and ethical requirements and minimise the risk to the business; Ensure the protection of the Company’s intellectual property and ensure that the use of trade marks, design and copyright protection is properly managed; Undertake all other reasonable tasks assigned by the Commercial Director.
You will have had 5 years in a similar role with good negotiation, management, presentation and organisational skills. Competent user of spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software (preferably Microsoft).People management and development. You will have a degree or equivalent, preferably in a business discipline. Knowledge of contract law. Team player willing to take on new challenges. Confident interpersonal skills. Enjoys a busy and varied working environment as part of a close-knit team.Develops strong customer relationships.Proactively identifies and implements business improvements. Works to highest standards of business ethics. Smart appearance. Additional information: Able to work full-time normal hours, and travel (including overseas) as necessary.
