Production Manager (Projects) - exciting opportunity to join this leading Defence player. My client has a career opportunity for a decisive; results focussed Production Manager in their Communications Systems Operation. The operation produces technically challenging Communication Systems often integrated across a wide base of Military Vehicles. The operation's strengths include embedded lean manufacturing principles and design for production practices and we employ a holistic approach to Procurement, Supply Chain Management and the integration of these complex systems using SAP/R3. The role demands a person of stature and previous manufacturing management experience preferably with a background in electrical systems integration to drive production operations through a period of significant growth. Reporting to the Production Business Stream Leader your primary role will be to plan, organise and deliver integrated systems across multiple projects through multiple production facilities and a diverse supply chain to ensure delivery of quality systems, on time and on cost. As a charismatic leader with a passion for building and maintaining teams, you will lead a successful operation of 40 production engineers, procurement, logistics specialists and fitters generating in excess of £25M turnover in 2006 with an expected growth to £40M over 3 years. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing rapid growth operations through continuous improvement and the development of teams and processes. Achievement of the business plans will require the current culture to be developed with the aspiration of becoming a world class operation.
Essential Experience and Qualifications: A proven track record in delivering complex system integration projects in production; You will be at ease in interfacing with customers and suppliers, have a good working knowledge of the statutory regulations governing employment law, health, safety and the environment; Relevant experience in change management including behavioural change; Relevant professional qualification desirable.
