A successful Service Manager will understand and motivate employees, raise expectations of team performance and provide appropriate support, and recognise improvements in performance. The ideal candidate will also be able to deploy employees effectively, exercise necessary discipline, manage confrontations objectively and authoritatively, use unambiguous direct communication and encourages two-way discussion. He or she should be able to think ahead, manage short-term local needs within the context of the contract strategy, and be target orientated.
