<b>Job Summary</b> <br><p><strong>Mechanical Handling Engineers</strong> - Atkins Nuclear are looking to recruit Mechanical Handling Engineers at both junior and senior levels to support multi-discipline project teams working on large, complex engineering projects.</p><p>Joining a large Atkins team initially based at a client site in Berkshire, the role will support project "feasibility" studies and subsequent project stage activities such as: optioneering, technology de-selection, conceptual design and detailed design.</p><p>The Mechanical Handling Engineers will work closely with other project team members, such as the Assurance function on safety case documentation, the Systems function on requirements and functional specifications, and Project Controls function on planning, estimating etc.</p><br><br><b>Requirements</b> <br><p>Knowledge and experience of the following are beneficial:</p><ul><li>Nuclear safety case issues <li>Design of mechanical handling equipment within glove boxes <li>Mechanical handling systems for fissile material <li>Nuclear rated cranes and lifting equipment <li>Remote control vehicles and handling systems <li>Waste handling and processing systems <li>Constraints to operations on a nuclear licensed site <li>Project management, including controls, planning and estimating and preparation of deliverable/work package documentation <li>Working within a multi-discipline engineering team and having a general appreciation of other disciplines' constraints and requirements <li>NII site licence conditions and the constraints placed on site operations including project implementation</li></ul><ul></ul><p><strong>Preferred</strong></p><ul><li>Chartered status for senior positions <li>Experience in the civil or military nuclear industry <li>Current UK security clearance to a minimum SC level - or candidates will need to be in a position to attain this</li></ul><br><br><b>Training</b> <br></p>Atkins develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development courses designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talents.
