Commodity Manager: Our client requires a professional with several years experience managing MRP and major sub-contracts within the Military sector. You are a self starter capable of negotiating internally and with a supplier base to achieve the goals of the business. Qualified CIPS member preferably by examination with the necessary IT skills to function in a modern environment. ROLE: Ensure an open book approach is taken with suppliers and the cost drivers are known/monitored with a view to cost reductions; Review MRP output and direct buyers on how the report should be acted upon enabling advantageous price negotiation whilst ensuring supply to manufacturing meets the client needs. Develop relationships ensuring a degree of trust/understanding is fostered and the needs of the contracts are fully specified and accepted by suppliers. Day to day management of 2 buyers. Work with the bid team involving suppliers at the earliest stage possible to ensure a level of buy in once we have been successful in winning the bid. Work with relevant project managers / engineering to identify sub-contractors and teaming partners capable of meeting our client's needs. Introduce internet for purchasing, rescheduling and obtaining quotes. Visit suppliers, identify strengths / weaknesses in order to agree what monitors are required, develop relationships to ensure our client's requirements are given the priority necessary to meet their customer delivery dates.
