Private Hospital based in Milton Keynes currently seeking an experienced Theatre Manager to run 2 theatres, running 6 days (and some evenings) each week, covering all surgical specialties (predominate speciality is orthopaedics) together with an Endoscopy Unit.

*This is a developmental role, probably suiting someone with Senior Sister experience wishing to take the next step, or an experienced manager who is relocating to the area and wants to remain at that level.*

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

MANAGEMENT ROLE
- To take management responsibility for the daily running of the Theatres and contribute to overall organisational performance.

- To manage productivity, unit costs, customer and employee satisfaction.

- Act as an effective shift co-ordinator

- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in time management, prioritisation, decision making, delegation and conflict resolution.
- To ensure cost flex matches activity in line with the objectives
- To carry out performance reviews for all Theatre staff and ensure that they are developed in line with the Group?s objectives.
- Participate in team building, motivating and the coaching of staff
- To provide direction and cohesiveness to Theatre team through effective leadership.
- To ensure communication is optimised by promoting discussion within the team.
- To represent the Theatre team at meetings.
- To co-ordinate the checking and maintenance of resuscitation/emergency equipment
- To participate in the senior nurses on-call rota
- To co-ordinate and monitor surgical cases, in line with The Hospital Group?s policies and procedures.
- To recruit new members of the Theatre team and be responsible for coaching and mentoring senior theatre staff.
- Optimise communication with consultants and customers.

THEATRE PRACTITIONER
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document care for a designated group/list of patients
- Act as a positive role model
- Maintain a patient centred approach when planning care, involving members of the multi-disciplinary team in care decisions where appropriate
- Maintain high standards of evidence based care where possible
- Identify and discuss nursing and patient problems, rationale and research with team members
- Reflect and learn from own practice
- Monitor theatre activities and audit appropriate procedures and give feedback to colleagues.
- To co-ordinate the design, implementation and review of multi-disciplinary care pathways.
