DESIGN TECHNICIAN with CAD skills
Salary circa £21-25,000 pa (depending on experience) : plus benefits & relocation assistance if appropriate
Overtime occasionally available
Hours 8 am : 5 pm Mon to Friday

An experienced Design Technician with CAD skills is required by our client a very successful organisation offer a full design, manufacture and installation service for all types of architectural and (some) structural type work. They work for all of the major national and regional building and construction companies in the South West. Work is typically undertaken within an area from Plymouth : Bristol and Barnstaple : Yeovil.
Candidates with previous experience in steel fabrication would be preferred
Please note this is NOT a trainee position, candidates must have proven experience in a similar role.
The Design Technician (DT) will be expected (after training) to be able to produce 3D images, general arrangement and fabrication drawings using either ProE or Exsteel CAD software.
The DT will report directly to the Design Co-ordinator (DC) who is responsible for allocating labour and providing full information of the project including architect and engineers details to the DT. There will also be close involvement with the Contracts Department in ensuring design specifications are correct.
Other duties are as follows:
- Receive architects drawings, design packs and highlight and identify any concerns / thoughts on design.
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with written procedures.
- Check quality of work is maintained at all times.
- Monitor times to ensure that work is completed by due date.
- Produce drawing registers, GA drawings for site staff, fabrication drawings for workshop and bolt schedules.
- Update company database with records of all work designed.
