Magazine Editor – Games
Our Client is a leading magazine publisher with offices over the UK. They are looking for a games editor to join their team in the South West. In this high profile role you will organise the production of the various console game reviews for the magazine. The position represents an excellent step for an applicant with tireless ambition and a desire to create accurate, entertaining and surprising pages.
Responsibilities:
• To write news and preview articles and features when required
• To maintain accuracy and magazine style throughout the reviews section
• Manage a large freelance pool and make sure work is up to standard
• To be first point of contact and represent the magazine to the games industry
• To keep up to date with events and releases in the industry
• Participate in the planning and research of other features and parts of the magazine
Essential Skills and Competencies
• Excellent journalistic skills
• Stand-out review writing
• Solid rewriting skills
• Good magazine craft
• Ability to find new writers
Essential Knowledge
• Excellent knowledge of the games industry and an enormous contacts book
• Libel and copyright law
• Magazine craft
Essential Work Experience
• Experience as a staff writer or previous section editing experience
• Experience of arranging exclusives
