Our client is an international law firm looking for a Marketing Business Development Manager to drive and support a range of BD activities. You will play a key role in helping the firm win new profitable business and in improving our BD service.
Based in their Leeds office (but spending two days a week in Manchester) you will report to the Senior Marketing Manager and be part of a team of 9 across Leeds and Manchester, but part of a larger firmwide Marketing function and work with colleagues from other offices. You will support the Public sector group and the Manchester office, focussing on the commercial practice group. You will also coach and manage a Business Development Coordinator.
Key responsibilities will include pitch management (particularly public sector); creating compelling sales copy; driving and monitoring targeting activity; supporting the firm's CRM programme; ensuring all Partners have access to Business Development advice and key client account management issues. You will also contribute to projects that develop their new business processes to keep them ahead of their competition and leverage their strengths and brand values.
This is a demanding role which requires somebody who is driven and resilient with a strong team work ethic. You will need good written and verbal communication skills together with an effective approach that is consultative, probing and flexible in style. You must be able to constructively challenge persuade and negotiate with legal and client personnel. You will have previous extensive experience in a similar business development role, and hands-on experience of major pitches.
They would welcome applications from marketers whether from professional services or any other industry sector. A knowledge of /exposure to the Public Sector would be preferable. Your attitude and commitment to improving the value of the service we provide to our clients whether internal or external is paramount. They value knowledge of the legal and professional markets but they also recognise that experience from elsewhere can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to improve the way they deliver their services.
You will be technically competent in new business processes; possess strong team work ethic and be client focused and accountable. You will be able to offer practical advice and ideas; possess knowledge of sales techniques and coaching ability. You will be able to manage multiple projects; assimilate large amounts of information; possess creative flair and good copy writing skills. You will also have a good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
