Our client specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of plastic components for automotive and specialist industries worldwide using state-of-the-art technology. They currently seek a Supplier Quality Engineer.
You will be responsible for implementing and managing the companies supplier development
strategy and review for both existing and new suppliers.
Key Role & Objectives:
- Drive continuous improvement at new and current suppliers.
- To understand customer expectations and manage them through into the supply base.
- Implement and manage quarterly/annual supplier review meetings with key suppliers to monitor them on QCDS
- Develop and manage the Vendor rating system
- Vendor appraisal of new and current suppliers.
- Manage suppliers to generate Supplier Quality Documentation, Plans, Procedures and Policies as specified by our client's or customer requirements
- Progress Root cause identification, containment and CA/PA with suppliers
- Assist in promoting a quality culture throughout the organisation and supply base.
- Generation of weekly and monthly Supplier Performance Reports and monthly KPI's.
Qualifications/Experience:
Essential
- Engineering related HNC or apprenticeship or proven track record of carrying out a similar role for a minimum of 18 months in a high volume manufacturing environment.
- 18 months previous quality experience in an automotive, project management or customer liaison environment.
- Experience of customer and automotive industry systems and procedures including QS9000, ISO 14001, TS16949, APQP, PPAP etc.
- Show understanding of ISIR, capability requirements, gauging concepts and Design of Experiments.
- Be able to read & understand engineering drawings (Geometric tolerance & datum structures).
- Confident presentation skills. Ability to present information clearly & confidently to both individuals & groups.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Previous plastics experience preferred.
- Previous experience of carrying out internal and external audits.
