Our client specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of plastic components for automotive and specialist industries worldwide using state-of-the-art technology. They currently seek a Quality Technician to be responsible for all manufacturing quality product and production issues, providing a pro-active support and response.

Within the role, your key objectives will be to:

* Support production quality requirements through NPI, APQP & PPAP
* Support the introduction of the necessary test equipment and gauging to satisfy the quality requirements.
* Support the measurement and monitoring process to deliver a stable & capable production process utilising statistical techniques where necessary.
* Be the interface between quality, manufacturing and the Standards Room/Laboratory related to product in-process inspection and testing.
* Support manufacturing by administration of quality techniques.
* Be responsible for facilitating containment activities in support of NPI, Customer/Internal/Supplier Concerns. Ensuring logging and feedback of data from the containment to relevant stages of manufacturing to facilitate reduction in incidences.
* Assist in preparation of FMEAs and Control Plans
* Responsible for the administration of the Calibration, Gauging and Annual Layout Process
* Support production team training in relation to the customer expectations and quality requirements.
* Support to manufacturing and quality for document control plus logging, progressing, responding and close-out of customer concerns utilising 8D or other problem solving techniques as required.
* Be responsible for reporting quality performance in daily production meetings.
* Conduct manufacturing process audits

To fulfil these duties, the successful candidate will require the following qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge:

Essential:
* Educated to good O-Level/GCSE standard as a minimum. An engineering related qualification would be an advantage.
* Experience of carrying out a similar role for a minimum of 18 months in a high volume manufacturing environment.
* Experience of automotive industry systems and procedures including QS9000, ISO 14001, TS16949, APQP, PPAP etc.
* Show understanding of capability requirements, SPC, calibration, gauging and Ford G8D/Problem Solving techniques
* Good written & verbal communication skills.
* Computer literate (Microsoft word, excel and access)
* Numerate and analytical

Desirable:
* Previous plastics experience preferred.
* Previous experience of carrying out internal audits.
* Be able to read & understand engineering drawings (Geometric tolerance & datum structures).
