An FMCG Ambient Foods manufacturer now has a permanent opportunity based in the East Anglia area for an NPD Manager to develop new products from concept through to launch in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Our client is a medium sized but expanding food manufacturer with a very fast paced and dynamic R&D department - producing over 400 new products a year!
This is therefore a high visibility role necessitating a skilful manager who can coordinate and direct multiple projects and get the best out of a highly dedicated creative team. Working within a superb facility you will be involved in all new product development, strategic projects, technical support to production technical and quality functions as well as the development of your team.
Main duties will include :
New product development from brief to launch & official handover to Production, Quality & Technical departments.
Marketing Development Brief.
Agree development timeline, expectation, requirements.
Review development and acceptability to commercialise
Design recipe formulations for Seasonal products, document information following company process.
Ensure product acceptability for: organoleptics, microbiological, shelf stability and cost.
Ensure raw materials used in NPD conform with policies,
Keep Development Kitchen Supervisor and Raw Material Specification technologist aware of the status and priority of new raw material requirements.
Liaise with marketing to address issues and provide product information.
Retailer Specification approval.
Responsible for establishing all product attribute standards
Artwork approval
Manage Factory recipe system (i.E. Writing, approving and issuing)
Drive and energise the NPD process, including recipe and process development.
Ensure products meets all legal, quality and retailer and brand requirements
Remain informed and aware of retailer brand standards.
Selection, development and performance management of assigned NPD staff
You will possess good interpersonal skills, an eye for detail and a positive attitude.
You should ideally have a food science degree or similar qualification and be time served within an NPD role with Ambient experience. Direct liaison with major retailers will be a distinct advantage.
