An FMCG Ambient Foods manufacturer now has a permanent opportunity based in the East Anglia area for an NPD Technologist to assist in the development of new products from concept through to launch in a cost effective and efficient manner. Reporting to the NPD Manager you will assist as required to deliver NPD projects as well as having ownership of specific projects from given briefs. You will be required to prepare samples, assist in trails, review products, provide product recipes and costings, investigate cost saving strategies and liaise with the relevant departments.
Main duties will include :
New product development is from brief to launch & official handover to Production, Quality & Technical departments.
Marketing/Retailer Development Brief
Understand and follow development timeline, expectation, requirements
Design recipe formulations for Seasonal products, document information following company process, ensuring product acceptability for: organoleptics, microbiological, shelf stability and cost
Development sample review with internal team prior to product despatch to customer
Ensure raw materials used conform with policies, liaising closely with Development Kitchen supervisor and Raw Material Specification technologist, keeping all parties aware of the status of the projects
Liaise with marketing to address issues and provide product information
Responsible for establishing all product attribute standards
Liaise with NPD spec Technologist to hand over recipe information to enable Pack Copy generation
Ensure products meets all legal, quality and retailer and brand requirements
Remain informed and aware of retailer brand standards.
The successful candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, an eye for detail and a positive attitude as well as a qualification in a Food related subject.
