A leading Chilled Food Manufacturer are currently seeking a Quality Systems Manager to join their team Ensuring that the internal quality systems are carried out accordingly so that the company complies with food safety legislation and regulations and also that products meet with customer specification through the management of the quality assurance process.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain effective quality assurance systems together with a robust auditing system in keeping with the quality management system and HACCP studies ensuring that corresponding documents are consistently reviewed and updated as and when required (especially when processes are amended)
Assist in the development of the Quality Management System including policies, procedures, specific work instructions, HACCP and deliver training where necessary to relevant staff.
Assist in up-dating supplier and customer specifications as required ensuring that all customers' specifications are completed prior to product launches.
Manage the quality assurance teams in the absence of either Site Quality Assurance Manager e.G. Staffing requirements, training needs and records, systems knowledge etc. To develop the "Company" team in all quality assurance systems and practices.
Liaise with the Quality Manager, Technical Services Manager and Operations Managers concerning any major problems and/or difficulties and report/resolve deficiencies or quality problems immediately
Manage, record and report rejections, complaints and corrective actions taken - complete customer responses to specific complaints.
Manage the Pest Control contracts at both sites and ensure that recommendations are actioned by the relevant departments.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of process controls throughout the factory and provide product information (e.G. On-line specifications, specifications amendments) regarding technical issues to the respective departments as required
Identify and resolve quality issues relating to production and associated departments: production process, maintenance and good manufacturing practices and/or poor staff performance
Oversee the collection and analysis of data referring to various issues including : complaints, supplier assessments, temperature records, shelf life and process controls etc
Provide cover for the Quality Manager and Technical Services Manager in their absence and actively participate in customer/third party visits and audits
Liaise with customer technical departments and other external authorities as required
Manage the company's traceability system, through the manual/computerised systems and regularly report on the effectiveness of the system
Ensure that all paperwork undertaken by the quality assurance team is fully completed to the standards laid down by the Quality Manager and the Standard Operating Procedures
Assist in managing product and any other microbiological testing together with pesticide testing to ensure that all testing schedules are completed, liaise with laboratories regarding collection as required
Manage taste testing panels and other customer-based projects on an ad hoc basis
Assist the Technical Services Manager in specific factory based projects on an ad hoc basis
Be a pro-active member of the HACCP and BRC progress teams and undertake any specific duties resulting from team meetings
Manage customer complaints and deliver workable corrective actions where necessary.
You will ideally have QA management experience within a Chilled food Manufacturing environment; with your basic Food Hygiene and HACCP certificate.
This could also be an opportunity for a confident, ambitiously driven individual with Quality Systems, HAACP and micro experience to springboard their career into QS Management.
