SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
German Speaking
My Client is the UK’s leading supplier of specialist Building Components in its field, with a UK turn-over in excess of £45m.
Based in Milton Keynes lies the H.Q and Distribution centre for the whole UK and due to increased/planned expansion, are seeking to appoint an experienced individual to take control of a small dedicated team to ensure a reliable, timely and cost effective supply chain to its UK customers.
As you will be liasing with the parent Companies manufacturing plants in Europe, a tactful, diplomatic, charismatic leader is required to take the Company forward with its growth plans.
Ideally you will have a minimum CIPS qualifications and be experienced in all aspects of supply chain management. Fluency in German is essential to this pivotal role.
Salary is negotiable (c£40,000), dependant upon your experience etc

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to ensure a reliable, timely and cost effective supply chain to its UK customers
2. Position within the organisation
Responsible to: Chief Executive
Direct reports: Stock Control and Material Planning Co-ordinators
Works in conjunction with: staff in the UK and Germany
3. Dimensions
Financial: None
Non-Financial: Preparation of budgets and plans for the year in conjunction with the Chief Executive
4. Principal Accountabilities
4.1 Develop and implement strategies to ensure supply to the UK tailored to UK market needs in accordance with corporate strategies and the Company's mission statement.
4.2 Defining and implementing policies and procedures for all non-core purchases of the UK branch and overall responsibility for all non-core purchases in the UK.
4.3 Proactively managing the transport of all goods from the continent to the UK.
4.4 Co-ordinate supply chain activities in conjunction with the Central Buying and Material Planning and other departments
4.5 Any other duties arising supporting the Chief Executive in ensuring a reliable supply chain to the UK.
5. Details of activities for each area of accountability
5.1 Develop and implement strategies to ensure to the UK market needs.
5.1.1 Ensure timely supply with lead times and flexibility fitted to the UK market needs from both continental and UK suppliers.
5.1.2 Supply of type and quality of products suited to the UK market needs.
5.1.3 Ensure cost effectiveness of supply to the UK taking the overall costs into account.
5.2 Defining and reviewing the purchasing policy and procedures for non-core purchases
5.2.1 Defining and utilising the optimum available tools for the control of non-core purchases within the given constraints of the business environment.
5.2.2 Overseeing all non-core purchases, in particular procurement of capital investments.
5.2.3 Sourcing suppliers for non-core and capital investment purchases to a given specification in conjunction with the requesting department and the financial controller
5.2.4 Placing and expediting orders for capital investment projects
5.3 Proactively managing the transport of all goods from the continent to the UK in the most cost effective way ensuring the required levels of service and quality.
5.3.1 Analysis of the monthly statistics in relation to cost and transport time.
5.4 Co-ordinate supply chain activities in conjunction with the Central Buying and Material Planning Departments and the project office.
5.4.1 Support the central buying department in the development of UK suppliers and the resolution of any problems arising from UK suppliers
5.4.2 Raise issues on behalf of internal customers both with the central buying department and where appropriate with the supplier directly.
5.4.3 Sourcing new UK suppliers when needed in conjunction with Product Management assessing potential suppliers; negotiating specification, service and price in conjunction with the central buying department and Quality Management in Bielefeld, in the case of coater assessments.
5.4.4 Monitoring Aluminium Transport cost to the UK and split of Aluminium from continent/UK with the aim to achieve 60% direct supply of UK demand from UK suppliers or direct supply as previously agreed
5.5 Material Planning of UK stocked products
5.5.1 Overseeing the material planning of products only stocked in the UK and monitoring the stock value and availability according to the guidelines given by the Material Planning Dept
5.5.2 Oversee the materials requirements for 'special projects' and co-ordinating any special arrangements in conjunction with the operations manager.
6. Knowledge and skills required
6.1 Preferably CIPS qualified with experience in all aspects of supply chain management
6.2 Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
6.3 Good communication skills, fluent German speaker
6.4 Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
