Part of one of the world's largest steel producers, Our client is also the leader in the UK steel processing and distribution sector. They have unrivalled product, processing and technical resources that enable us to provide innovative material solutions for their customers across industry. The location of the position is yet to be confirmed but will be covering the Lincolnshire & Kent locations.
Their continued success has led to the requirement for a General Manager.
Responsibilities and Key Skills:
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Company's Health & Safety policy and in particular set performance improvement objectives and develop work programmes to support their achievement.
To formulate and gain acceptance of annual and medium-term plans that integrates commercial objectives, resource requirements and performance improvement actions so as to achieve targeted growth and returns for the Business.
Skills and Experience:
-You will need to understand trends in customer requirements and market conditions, responding by developing products, processes and services that meet customer needs and deliver opportunistic growth in customer base, volume and profit.
-Be able to identify opportunities for service improvement and cost reduction through a systematic review of regional synergies. -
-Identify and gain acceptance of capital expenditure programmes that will achieve increased product and service differentiation, revenue, efficiency or market penetration for the Business.
-Monitor frequently the performance of the Business against plans and forecasts and initiate, when necessary, action to secure “back on track” performance.
-You will also be expected to ensure that operational and working capital resources are employed as productively as possible by comparison with internal and external best practice models and benchmarks, while ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service. And also to lead the development of relationships with business critical customers & suppliers to lay the foundations for long term partnership while ensuring profit potential is maximised.
The position requires an experienced Manager with substantial experience in service centre activities or equivalent. The jobholder must have the ability to co-ordinate and develop further management activities across a geographically disparate customer base in addition to having demonstrated commercial success with the ability to create a high level of trust with both customers and suppliers.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level, preferably in business, marketing, finance or engineering. The ability to lead a Management team whilst working to tight timescales is crucial.
