A Major Chilled Food manufacturer are currently seeking a Technical Manager to effectively manage all day to day technical issues, ensuring that support is provided in line with the technical agenda for the site and that the appropriate level of technical expertise is in place in all areas
Key responsibilities include:
Provide direction and support to the Technical team, managing and facilitating staff performance and development and ensuring the departmental structure and skills are developed to meet changing business requirements.
Ensure that all audits are carried out and corrective actions put in place to ensure technical integrity and standards are maintained at all times.
Monitor and audit the effectiveness of corrective procedures relating to customer complaints.
Agree achievable quality standards with the customer and ensure they are maintained on an ongoing basis.
Ensure site hygiene standards are met and to carry out formal independent documented hygiene audits at the specified frequency.
Support Procurement in ensuring the technical integrity of the procurement process is maintained.
Ensure agreed product quality standards are reinforced by challenging decisions and actions taken by Operations.
Provide technical support to the NPD function.
Ensure all relevant technical matters are formally communicated to the appropriate personnel within the business.
Co-ordinate formal technical responses to Major multiples.
Identify areas of non-compliance with all relevant legislation and retailer codes of practice.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with retailer personnel.
Develop a positive relationship with the local environmental health authority.
Research and investigate technical advances and opportunities for improving performance (e.g. Technical integrity, product quality, process controls)
Control departmental expenditure within budget.
Fulfil Health and Safety responsibilities as outlined in the Site Safety Plan.
Contribute fully to the continuous improvement in business performance as a member of the Senior Management team.
Raise the general level of awareness of technical issues.
Be involved with process development activities to ensure technical integrity is maintained.
Ensure staff are trained to and regularly audited against the quality standards to ensure compliance with the system.
You will be a Technical Manager used to working within a Chilled, highly pressurised environment with experience dealing with all major multiples including Tesco's, JS, M&S.
