Our client, a market leader in the manufacture of stainless steel masonry fixings to the Construction Industry. The company employs over three hundred people at three sites in the UK and has four overseas offices.
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
This is a superb opportunity for a dynamic individual to deliver best practice operations to this established and highly regarded business unit. Part of a substantial division of a global group, this £16 million turnover facility manufactures stainless steel products which it supplies to the European construction market. The group is fully engaged in managing significant change across all its operations and the challenge in this role is to take this technically strong and service-orientated operation forward, through the ongoing development of modern lean- based business practices.
There is an established team in place and the immediate priority is to bring leadership, vision and a dynamic approach to developing and implementing strategies which will enhance profitability across a broad front, capitalising on manufacturing opportunities, continuous improvement, optimisation of cost saving opportunities and above all personally championing the ongoing development of a customer service focused, team-based quality improvement culture.
This is a full operations role with full site responsibility, which in addition to manufacturing includes purchasing and materials management, engineering development of both product and process, and Health and Safety.
A candidate with significant ability and potential is required – one who has had broad exposure to the areas described. You must have been trained in modern manufacturing practices in a highly regarded group and will have demonstrated experience in leading business through cultural change. Graduate qualified, preferably in an Engineering related subject, possibly with an MBA, you will have progressed to Senior Operations Management where multi-disciplinary team leadership/influencing skills and commercial awareness are essential requirements. Whilst we have to some extent an open mind about sector experience, metals based engineered products are of particular interest. Above all we are looking for a profit and growth orientated leader, who will quickly identify then realise the tremendous potential of this business unit. The ambitions for the business are very real indeed and, in addition to a comprehensive remuneration package, the prospects for personal and career growth are excellent.
