Events Development Executive
c. £27,500
If you have experience of events management and fundraising with a cultural organisation or events management company, this unique role offers you the opportunity to demonstrate your full potential on a regional and national stage.
Visit Chester & Cheshire (VCC) is the tourism management organisation for Chester and Cheshire, aiming to double tourism revenue by 2015. Managed by its Director of Operations, and reporting to the Year of Gardens 08 Steering Group, you will work with the leading gardens of Cheshire to raise their national profile by initiating and managing a series of major events.
A critical part of this role will be to create an events programme for 2008 – Year of the Gardens – that dovetails with Liverpool’s Capital of Culture 2008 activities. This will involve building strong relationships with garden operators, cultural organisations and local communities, bidding for events and funding streams, attracting sponsorship and organising marketing activities.
A confident, outgoing self-starter, you must have at least 5 years’ experience in events management and marketing, with a proven ability to manage and publicise successful events on a regional and national stage which have resonance for both visitors and local communities. Fundraising experience will be essential, as will a resourceful, ‘get things done’ approach. Experience of working in partnership with local authorities and the tourism industry would be an advantage. The role is offered on a fixed term contract until 31st December 2008.
