With a national network of operational and distribution centres, more than 7000 employees and a turnover exceeding £250million, our client is a leader in workwear rental, linen hire, washroom products and healthcare services.
They now require a Transport Manager to manage a team of 26 staff and 20 commercial vehicles providing a weekly scheduled multi drop delivery and collection service to 2800 customers located in the North West. The main responsibilities of the role will include:
* Planning and controlling the operation of the scheduled delivery route system within agreed cost control and legal framework.
* Recruiting, training and managing the Transport Staff of drivers and loading bay.
* Planning and controlling the servicing and repair of all branch vehicles to ensure operational availability and safe operation.
* Ensuring that Health & Safety at work standards are maintained in compliance with legislation and company policy.
* Working with other line managers to ensure good customer service is achieved.
The successful candidate will ideally hold the following key skills:
* Preferably have a CPC.
* Must be a strong people manager.
* Must be able to work to tight deadlines with changing priorities.
* Must be customer focussed and a good team player.
* Must have previous responsibility for managing a budget.
