Bolton is a Centre of Excellence for Commercial Property claims. They employ 85 staff who handle a variety of claims such as Theft, Fire, Accident Damage and Storm up the value of £100k. The unit is split into 2 main teams, North and South, and within that a number of smaller teams consisting of 8-10 staff and 1 team leader. They are looking to recruit a number of Claims Handlers for a 23rd April start date.
The role:
To manage claims in accordance with the company's Insurance claims handling philosophy and in line with Business goals and operational plans.
Key Accountabilities
* To demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills that develop and maintain good customer relationships and deliver excellent customer service
* To proactively manage claims to settlement within agreed authority levels, in compliance with Company Policy, processes and to agreed quality standards
* To appoint, liaise and develop good relationships with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of claims at minimum cost
* To apply Corporate guidelines at all stages of a claim to deliver quality claims handling service
* To continuously identify improvements to the claims process and bring these to the attention of the Team Manager
Skills, Knowledge and Behaviour:
* Team player
* A level or equivalent standard education
* Desire to progress towards a CII professional qualification
* Customer focused - responds appropriately to customers needs
* Knowledge of insurance principles and relevant case law, products, policies and claims philosophy
* Sound knowledge of claims process
* Effective and clear communication, excellent telephone listening and rapport building skills. Confident at negotiating with an ability to influence outcomes.
* Organised and able to prioritise. Focused on file settlement.
* Experience in a relevant insurance background preferred or a customer service background.
This role is likely to appeal you if you prefer working as part of a larger team - with shared responsibilities and group targets. You will learn our client's procedures and use these to deal with their customers appropriately.

The selection process consists of a single competency based interview and three short ability tests.
More company information:
The unit handles in the region of 50,000 claims every year with the average claim costing £2,750. They deal with from notification to settlement both by the telephone and written correspondence. The unit has Key Targets which must be met and revolve around indemnity spend, number of claims outstanding and telephone service. In addition to their Key targets an incentive scheme runs which rewards staff for controlling leakage whilst continuing to provide great customer service. Nelson Square is in the centre of Bolton, five minutes walk from the bus and railway station.
