SQL Server/VB6/.NET Database Developer ,45K + bens
SQL Server/VB6 ( Visual Basic ) /.NET Database Developer opportunity exists with extremely successful and rapidly expanding Midlands based company. Required Skills are strong VB6 development (5yrs+) allied to strong SQL Server development experience, strong SQL skills ; some exposure to .NET, particularly in the area of ADO.Net and data access .
Of special interest would be experience of DB tuning - indexes (fill factors, use of profiler, etc), stored procedures, location and maintenance of data and logs, Distributed Databases (data transfer, transformation, log shipping etc), Data Warehousing (OLAP/ROLAP cubes etc) and the Qualifications allied to these (MCDBA, Design methodologies etc)
This is a highly technical role but there will be lots of client liaison, dealing with technical problem identification and resolution, so strong interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite. Nice to have's include Thin Client deployment - Terminal Server/Citrix Metaframe; Wise installation - particularly componentised installations and MSI setups.
