Our client is Europes leading specialist in operating enterprise and Internet applications. They enable clients to selectively outsource their IT operations and re-focus on using IT to add strategic value to their business. Through a commitment to operational excellence, they manage, secure and optimise the performance of their applications, irrespective of the physical location of the infrastructure, either in Attendas data centres or elsewhere. They are now looking to recruit an additional person to join our 2nd Line Support Team. Reporting to the 2nd Line Team Leader in Operations you will be responsible for supporting highly complex and dedicated client solutions. This is a 2nd line helpdesk environment with a strong emphasis on resolving complex customer issues remotely. These are typically business or brand critical e-commerce applications. Role: Previous experience working within a support environment - Use of call logging system - Adherence to Incident Management processes - Ability to cope with multiple incidents Ability to take ownership of Incidents and resultant situations - Strong and proven hands on troubleshooting skills - Gather and document key information ensuring smooth incident handover - Define and implement holding processes - Direct liaison with Client and internal staff including client service managers - Define Client/internal communication plan - Manage through to resolution and make key escalation decisions Past experience in trend analysis Person: 4 years experience with supporting Unix technologies The following are preferred but are not essential : Java application server experience, BEA Weblogic, IBM Websphere (JBoss, Enhydra, Oracle Application Server) Have passed Sys Admin 1 and Sys Admin 2 or can demonstrate equivalent experience Understanding of - Server hardware performance - Advanced Solaris networking setup and tuning - Cisco highly available networking and PIX firewalls and VPNs preferred - Sun and/or Veritas clustering - Load balancing - Various methods for connecting applications to databases Ideally from a development background e.g. sysadmin role within a development environment Good architectural understanding of web applications from a Clients perspective Understanding of Capacity Planning. Sun Solaris 8x and above, Oracle 8x and above preferred (not essential), Apache 1.3.x and above, Veritas Net Backup
