Our client is an independent systems house specialising in deriving bottom line IT benefits for clients. They are currently looking to recruit a ‘hands on' senior support engineer to join and manage their successful support team.
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in an IT support role and have strong skills in the following areas:
* Networking ~ Novell / Microsoft;
- Specifically eDirectory (NDS) and Active Directory
* Applications ~ Email / AV / Accounting / Standard Desktop Apps
- GroupWise / Exchange
- CA Etrust
- Microsoft Office
* WAN / VPN / Firewall hardware and software
The support team is responsible for providing helpdesk, installation and on site support services to our client base in these areas. Although support services are provided across both hardware and software, hardware maintenance is leveraged through 3rd parties, allowing their primary focus to be software and managing the incident.
They actively seek an individual who is confident enough to question current assumptions and service delivery models, in order to critique and improve them. Of increasing importance is an in-house developed application, similar to, but not fully described by the term CRM. As such, exposure to, and confidence with, database applications would be an advantage, as would exposure to the software development life cycle.
Day to day duties will include managing projects, recommending and selecting suppliers, installing hardware, software and applications and ensuring that we continue to provide exceptional support to our client base.
The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-starter and have excellent communication skills with a "can do, will do" attitude. There is scope for moving to a less hands on Team Manager role in 18-24 months. Salary for the post is in the range £18 - £23k, dependant on experience.
If you are interested in applying for this position, please send your CV and a cover letter detailing experience and current salary, via the button shown.
