Our client is a world leader in electronic design automation (EDA) software for semiconductor design. The company delivers technology-leading semiconductor design and verification platforms and IC manufacturing software products to the global electronics market, enabling the development and production of complex systems-on-chips (SoCs).
They now have a new position available in their European IT Department for a French speaking PC End-User Support Engineer, and your primary focus will be their UK site (in Reading) and 3 sites in France. If you have the required skills then we want to hear from you.
Job Responsibilities:
• You will be responsible for the installation, availability, reliability, consistency, performance, logistics, documentation and communication of our client's computing resources and practices in the End User Support group.
• You will be responsible for the scheduling, prioritizing, and accomplishment of Windows 2000/XP/2003 system administration tasks within the European user community.
• This role can be expanded to End-User support on the Unix platform.
• You will perform PC hardware and software maintenance.
• Software duties include installation and support of software packages such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook and Windows applications.
• Some task automation programming in administrative languages such as PERL, and DOS Batch files.
• Hardware installation to include standard PC systems (desktops and laptops) plus additional components such as scanners, printers, sound peripherals, etc.
• Debug PC related problems with memory management, virus related issues and hardware configuration.
• Windows 2000/XP/2003 workstation and server installation in a heterogeneous network environment.
Job requirements include:
• 3+ years PC support experience in a heterogeneous network environment working with TCP/IP, DHCP, Remote Access, Windows, WinNT and Win2000/XP, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003, SMTP/MIME/POP based email applications.
• Fluent French and English
• Experience with Client/Server applications accessing UNIX servers a plus.
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills, working with a team of administrators in an end-user and R&D engineering environment.
