Our client's company was formed in 1980 to provide business software on microcomputers. For the last 16 years it has concentrated on the development of its payroll software and related products, including personnel and time and attendance systems. The company has 90 product customers and 55 bureau clients spread throughout the UK mainland employing from 10 to 3,000 employees, with excellent relationships established, some going back 20 years. The main business sectors they cover are manufacturing, motor dealers and service especially solicitors. They are looking to recruit a Support Executive (Product and IT).

Main Responsibilities of the Support Executive (Product and IT):

The Executive will perform the following duties:-

1. Install and configure Action File software at customer sites
2. Provide training to the users on these products
3. On a rota basis man the software product support desk
4. Test new software releases and bug fixes
5. Provide pre-sales support
6. Liaise with the 3rd Party Hardware Company maintaining the IT infrastructure
7. Provide first level Desktop & Laptop Support for Action File staff

Skills Level required for the position of the Support Executive (Product and IT) -

1. Good working knowledge of Desktop/Laptop Hardware and operating systems including DOS, Windows NT, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Server 2003
2. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Access (97, 2000, 2002, 2003)
3. Some knowledge of Payroll of HR software

The ideal Support Executive (Product and IT):

1. Individual with several years' business experience.
2. Either a Payroll/HR executive with good IT knowledge.
3. Or an IT executive with an interest in Payroll/HR software.
4. Mobile with own vehicle and able to travel to customer sites that may be 3 hours driving.

Programming experience not required and the IT role will occupy less than 20% of the week. The position will be based in Banbury. Our client offers a salary of £24,000 to £30,000 with annual reviews. The working days are Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 17.30pm, with 1 hour for lunch. The package includes a 3-month trial period with no notice on either side and no sick pay during this period. It also includes 20 days holiday per annum rising by 1 day per annum to a maximum of 25 from 1st January following 2 years service. Authorised expenses will be refunded on a monthly basis.
