Purpose of the role
The requirement within this role will be to provide direction, support and services to all client facilities in data communications. The holder of this role will be required to deliver these requirements through the management of a supplied Managed Network service, Managed Security service and Managed Data Replication service, as part of a small internal team.
Areas of responsibility include:
· Network design, strategy and planning,
· Network architecture and security
· 3rd party network connectivity
· Inventory management of hardware and software
· Network testing and problem resolution
· Assessing network requirements for projects and changes
· Implementation of all network changes
· Assist with Infrastructure requirements and implementation
· Network supplier management.
LANs – Current LAN infrastructure is a mix of Cisco, Nortel, Cajun, IBM and Madge equipment
WANs – Current WAN network is Kingston ATM using Cisco routers running EIGRP.
Firewalls – Nokia platforms running Checkpoint software.
IT Systems housekeeping and administration
IT Project Management/involvement.
Network Performance Management, Capacity Planning and Availability/DR planning
IT Service Support and IT Service Delivery (ITIL)
Knowledge of the Cheque Clearing and banking industry would be advantageous.
The role holder will require several years experience in a similar role and hold recognised professional certification in both Cisco and Checkpoint Firewall software. A good knowledge of token ring is desirable, as is an understanding of IT Service Management.
Ø Infrastructure/Networks (Minimum of Cisco CCNP or CCDP)
Ø Firewalls (Nokia hardware , Checkpoint CCSA, CCSE, CCSE )
Ø ITIL Foundation
Ø Project Management/planning/co-ordination.
Ø A minimum of 3 years in a senior networking role.
