Overview of responsibilities.
Ensure timely and accurate, monthly financial reporting for European markets. This will involve the preparation of journals for management accounts and review of each market within a tight reporting timetable.
Be able to identify key drivers of monthly performance against budget or reforecast and put accounts context during period end review
Provide support and coaching for junior members of the Finance Team.
Provide support to Financial Controller
Build a thorough understanding of the European operation, to enable analyses to be prepared in the context of the business and its environment.
Act as liaison to corporate finance to support their reporting/informational needs and ensure consistency of reporting among offices.
Involvement in preparation and/or review and reconciliation of VAT and corporate income tax filings for one or more European entities.
Preparation and review of monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Be proactive in devising programs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
Review of regulatory requirements and compliance in one or more European country.
Undertake ad hoc analyses as necessary.
Experience and Qualifications Desired.
ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience. Supervisory experience essential.
Three years accounting experience within a commercial operation.
Experience of working within a complex multi-company, multi-currency accounting system.
Basic I.S. skills: Microsoft Office (Excel/Access) plus the aptitude to learn to use query and reporting tools. Prior experience with an ERP system, JD Edwards preferred.
A sound understanding of accounting practice and high level of technical accounting ability.
Good understanding regulatory framework and compliance issues impacting an organization that is doing business in multiple countries around Europe.

The correct attitude to the work carried out by the Finance group is essential. The person in this position must be enthusiastic in her/his desire to drive forward change and improvement.
Attention to detail and the ability to ensure that information provided to other business contacts is reliable and provided in a timely fashion.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels both internally and externally, written and oral.
Good team player demonstrating flexibility and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Able to work independently but know when to seek guidance when required.
To be able to quickly identify key issues that require further analysis and either provide that analysis or delegate, often to tight timescales. Ability to use their judgement when reviewing the management accounts and have a good sense of materiality.
Constant desire to improve the quality of financial information provided to drive business decision making, whilst ensuring a sound internal control environment.
Ability to prioritize workload for self and team but have the confidence to discuss priorities with FC when required.
