Starting in a junior role, you will soon gain experience to become a key player in processing tax returns and providing the whole range of personal taxation compliance support.

Specification:
Responsible for:
Client:
a) To ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and/or information
b) To maintain regular contact with the client and keep him/her informed at all times
c) To deal promptly with all client enquiries and correspondence, including correspondence with third parties concerning that client’s affairs
d) To ensure that clients are aware of all services provided by the firm
Office procedures:
a) Undertaking client tax work (under supervision) using the firm’s office manual and client care procedures to ensure all department assignments are completed to the same high standard
b) Accurately completing all assignments within agreed timetables to ensure assignments are completed on time (under supervision initially)
c) Investigating and resolving (where possible) problems arising during the assignments and notifying tax manager of unresolved problems to ensure they are addressed on time
d) Recording work in a clear and concise manner, ensuring all working papers are legible and well presented to allow other team members to clearly understand the work completed
e) Ensuring all outgoing work is proof-read and authorised according to the firm’s procedures
f) Keeping partners up-to-date on all dealings with the clients
g) Maintaining time-recording on client affairs on a daily basis in accordance with the firms procedures
h) Planning and reviewing accounts department assignments
i) Liasing with the audit and accounts department on clients tax issues as required
j) Liasing with other departments as necessary on client affairs
k) Marketing the firm and helping to bring in new clients at every available opportunity
l) Keeping technically up-to-date with company, tax and other relevant legislation
m) Observing office manuals and instruction books issued by the partners from time-to-time
n) Ensuring computer skills are developed and maintained to ensure effective completion of work
Professional Conduct:
a) To ensure knowledge of and compliance with all relevant aspects of the Institute’s Guide to Professional conduct
b) To comply with the relevant training requirements of your professional body (ICAEW, ACCA, AAT or other as appropriate)
Qualifications and experience:
You will be educated to A level or equivalent, or AAT qualified with or without relevant experience; support for AAT will be given if desired.
You must be confident, outgoing and not afraid to work with clients, well-organised, with a thorough, systematic approach, keen to build on practical experience and take further studies.
Proficient clerical and typing/IT skills are essential.
