They are currently looking to recruit an Area Underwriting Manager to be responsible for the technical quality of underwriting decisions in the area.
As Area Underwriting Manager you will have the following key accountabilities:
Underwriting account management
Scheme performance measurement and achievement of plan
Financial planning: analysing underwriting trends and predicting those through action plan to achieve the results in terms of underwriting control / criteria.
Setting underwriting standards and ensuring consistency throughout the area
People management and technical referral point. Responsible for technical training of all underwriters
Relationship management with HO underwriting teams, looking to achieve mutual confidence in underwriting ability of the area
Establish and develop underwriting relationship with key brokers.
Implementation and sharing of best practice within and across areas
Allocated regional responsibilities for an underwriting function such as training / financial planning (expert)
Established as a recognised technical reference point within the market
Effective relationship with area management team
Skills and previous experience:
Management of people
ACII qualified
High level of underwriting authority
Awareness of underwriting account management
Previous experience of working within a commercial insurance environment and Commercial Underwriting essential
Experience of managing a team
Experience of business planning
Understanding how this role relates to other Area functions
Awareness of service standards and business processes for the role
Responsibility for own personal development
Experience of managing and analysing data
