EDGE / Layer 1 Software Engineer to work on GSM / GPRS / UMTS (Dual Mode) mobile phone. You will be involved in upgrading and optimising EDGE features of the phone. Must have good analytical and software problem solving skills. You will be required to design, implement, test new features and functionality for GSM / GPRS Layer 1 / EDGE protocols; debug, characterise faults and optimise existing code. Must have a degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics or related (or equivalent period of industrial experience), 3 years exp in software development of embedded real-time systems or comms protocols, exp in C / C and real time software debugging techniques. Experience of Mobile Telecoms / Data-comms Protocols, RTOSs or ARM desirable. Preference given to candidates with 'A' level maths at grade A or B and exp in designing and developing GSM, GPRS or UMTS systems. Permanent position. Salary according to ability.
