JOB DESCRIPTION: TECHNICAL COORDINATORS – BID PROPOSALS The construction market in Bahrain is fast moving into line with the markets in the UAE and Qatar in that there are many projects in the pipeline that are for schemes that have not been common before in Bahrain. These include very high-rise buildings and complex bridges and interchange projects. AMA has been invited to participate in such projects but lacks the necessary experienced technical staff to be involved in putting together the bids and participating in executing the projects if the bids are successful. AMA Construction Division therefore wishes to recruit two persons as Technical Coordinators, to handle the technical and engineering aspects of bid proposals, specifically experienced in respect of one or the other types of projects mentioned. AMA are looking for civil engineering graduates with good experience in either one or the other of these types of projects, not necessarily at site management level, who could manage the technical side of the bid proposals, reporting to the Chief Estimator. Responsibilities would include the technical review of tender documents; development and finalisation of method statements; identification and sourcing of materials, equipment and sub-contractors; identifying temporary works requirements and coordinating any associated designs (specialist designs will be by appointed sub-consultants); coordinating and reviewing the scheduling and resource planning (by AMA Primavera planners). There are excellent prospects for the appointed persons to move on to project or technical management on the successful bids or to progress in the technical engineering and estimating sections of the division. The applicants should be computer literate in normal MS Office applications (including Excel and Access) and have a basic understanding of Primavera P3 and AutoCAD/Micro-Station software applications, but are not expected to be hands-on proficient. AMA Construction Division is accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and applicants should be familiar with working to such a quality management system.
