Under limited/no supervision, plans, assigns and schedules work and is responsible for the progress and quality of deliverables of a section or group of designers generally assigned to a single project or working in a specialized field. Has responsibility for technical direction of design work. Provides technical guidance and may make recommendations to management on performance and development of others within the group. Job role is responsible for a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and budget. Skills are typically acquired through a minimum of 8-10 years related experience or a Certificate/Diploma and 6 to 8 years. This is a project lead design position.
Scope
• Prepare drawings of engineering works, including design components, from design sketches and other engineering data, with assistance from other project design personnel as required, diligently and accurately.
• To have a thorough understanding of all relevant drafting procedures and standards.
• To carry out general site duties, minor survey measurements, inspections.
• To have a thorough understanding of all relevant CADD packages used within the office (particularly MX Moss).
• To have a thorough understanding of corporate procedures, such as HSE, HR and how to apply corporate goals to project deliverables, service and quality.
• Prepare to pass on knowledge gained to junior staff so as to ensure that the training regime is maintained and that any knowledge gained by working on projects is not relayed to those who need it most.
Additional Scope:
• Requires capacity to work harmoniously with other employees using interpersonal skills required of the work setting.
• Requires the ability to lead a drafting team and provide a focal point for any relevant issued that may affect the delivery of project documentation.
Budgetary responsibility
• Expected to complete assigned tasks as directed by project requirements within the agreed timeframe, reporting to the Project Supervisor if required. Responsible for the budgetary requirements of junior staff working on related projects to ensure that deliverables are produced within specified timeframes.
Qualifications and Experience
• Certificate or Diploma in relevant discipline and a minimum of 10 years related experience.
