Principal Real Time Embedded Software Design Engineer

My client are winning the worldwide battle to be leaders in satellite communication solutions for the mobile user. This role will cover real time embedded development of device drivers, API's and state machines for 16 & 32 bit micros. Hardware-software integration will also be part of your responsibilities.
Primarily hands-on, you will also be involved in architectural design, interface definition and requirements management, and will become an expert on air interface specifications.
To be considered for this role you are likely to have a degree level qualification in electronic engineering or a related area, followed by 5 or more years experience in cellular or satellite wireless telecoms.
Extensive knowledge of object-oriented C/C++ and real time operating systems is essential for these design positions. You must have a good system level understanding of wireless comms from RF / layer 1 up to the protocol layers. Protocols of interest include radio access protocols (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, Tetra, Inmarsat) and network / interface protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, ISDN)
It would be advantageous if you had knowledge of hardware, VHDL or DSP development.
