Embedded Software Engineer, Sussex, C, C++, microprocessor, real-time, RTOS, pSos, ethernet, UML, LonWorks, protocols
Object-oriented programming in C++ for embedded control and monitoring applications using serial data communications protocols.
A sound working knowledge of: General software engineering principles, including life-cycles and methods.
Detailed knowledge: C and C++ programming.
Real-time programming issues, including at least one real-time operating system.
Structured and object-oriented design methods.
Electronic hardware to software interfacing and microprocessor architectures from a software perspective.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience in the following would be an advantage: UML Frameworks and Design Patterns, Embedded Ethernet, pSOS+ real-time operating system, Freescale ColdFire thirty-two bit microprocessors, Modbus, Echelon LonWorks, Other serial communications interfaces, protocols and networks.
A good first degree, BSc(Hons) or equivalent, in software engineering, computer science, electrical / electronic engineering, science or technology would be preferred. A full Member of a professional institution, preferably the IET (was IEE) or BCS. Chartered Engineer status is desirable, but not a requirement.
