My client in Hampshire are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role is commutable from Winchester, Basingstoke, Newbury, Eastleigh, Salisbury, Andover, Thatcham, Hungerford.
Responsibilities include:
Drawing up design solutions for products. Design examinations, lead DFMEA and design review of functions, arrangement and construction; selecting/modifying elements. Producing drawings and parts lists, generation and maintenance of master data in the PDM system. Co-operating in drawing up the DVP&R test plans for in-house and purchased parts.
Continuous improvement/Design optimization:
Analysing and evaluating reports and documents to optimize existing products and components. Drawing up and co-ordinating draft design solutions. Initiating measurements, trials and functional testing. Following corresponding special requests and statistical peculiarities (worst case sample), verify existing designs, producing new designs and co-ordinating design solutions. Stipulating the materials and production processing and initiating tests.
Completing calculations:
Completing or initiating calculations for strength, service life, wear, dimensioning (tolerance calculations, interfaces and structural space) and weight of the parts to be constructed. Evaluating the results and adapting design solutions
Key Skills Required
Essential:
Degree or equivalent skills.
Working knowledge of Solidworks 2006 or similar design package.
DFMEA skills.
Numeracy skills.
Analysis and evaluation skills.
Communication skills - written and verbal.
Desirable:
APQP skills.
Knowledge of PPAP.
