Senior Component Engineer
North East

Our client is a leader in digital television technology. The Company's primary focus is the development of innovative home gateway (set-top box) solutions for operators, broadcasters, telecommunication companies and retail markets worldwide. They are now looking to recruit a Senior Component Engineer who has extensive knowledge of electronic component manufacturers and distribution and who is familiar with industry standards and qualification plans for electronic components. You will have demonstrative experience of improving unit robustness and life expectancy through a working knowledge of component reliability, their applications and good design practices and identify equivalents to existing parts as a response to urgent shortage situations or routine Component Engineering best practice.
The successful candidate will also be experienced in the principles, effects and implications of component change and change control.
· Able to handle all manner of component related queries from Sub-Contract Manufacturers.
· Be familiar with failure modes of electronic components and be informed, influential and efficient in the suggestion of appropriate strategies for containment, test, reporting and closure with regards to component failure investigations.
·Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of component parametric and other test equipment such as curve tracers, network, impedance, spectrum and LCR analysers, frequency testers, DPA/microsectioning/microscopy equipment and solderability testing.
· Have excellent communication skills and be motivated and proactive in taking responsibility for diverse Component Engineering related issues.
